Stars of Film and TV shine in Seattle and Washington State
Posted March 24th 2017 in News and Updates,
Seattle and Washington State are the sparkling city and wilderness settings for many TV series and films.
In particular, this year, Twin Peaks returns to Sky TV in May after 21 years’ absence – still directed by David Lynch and with most of the original cast. Film sites for Twin Peaks are only two hours out of Seattle, so hire a car and head out to the Great Northern Hotel, which in reality is Salish Lodge www.salishlodge.com
Other film and TV hits set or filmed in Seattle and Washington State, include Grey’s Anatomy, Second Chance, Sleepless in Seattle, Frasier and Wild.
This year, the Pacific Northwest received a special Oscar nod with the nomination of Captain Fantastic as Best Picture. The movie’s star, Viggo Mortenson, was also nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in this heartwarming story where Captain Fantastic creates a ‘back to basics’ life for his family in the wilds of Washington State. Movie locations show off Washington State’s raw beauty of forests, lakes, waterfalls, Pacific Ocean coastline and Deception Pass State Park.
Follow in the steps of the stars….
Deception Pass State Park connects Whidbey Island to the mainland just north of Seattle at a spectacular height over rapids where whales are often spotted. Whidbey is a serene and beautiful island of villages, forests, great farm to fork experiences and lovely inns. Stay at the Inn at Langley from £296 per room with picture windows and Jacuzzi bathrooms overlooking the sea, a spa and Chef’s table dining. http://www.innatlangley.com/

The Port of Seattle operates Seattle-Tacoma International Airport which is ranked as the 9th busiest airport in the USA, serving 45.7 million passengers annually. Light-rail connects the airport to downtown Seattle in 30 minutes. In 2016, Cruise Critic, the world’s largest review site for cruise planning, named the Port of Seattle the number one Homeport in North America. Nine major cruise lines (Carnival, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Seabourn) provide 7 to 14 day cruises to Alaska to explore wildlife, wilderness and the area’s awe-inspiring wonders.
